About British Accreditation Registrar :

British Accreditation Registrar in its role as an independent institution, assesses attests and monitors the technical competence of these bodies, whose services are required in virtually all segments of industry and trade.

By awarding an accreditation, British Accreditation Registrar asserts that these bodies carry out their duties in accordance with applicable requirements and in a competent manner. In short: British Accreditation Registrar audits the auditors.

British Accreditation Registrar through its Policies and strategies has created a system that is transparent for the entire global community irrespective of the industry type- whether it be manufacturers, consumers, or conformity assessment bodies.

British Accreditation Registrar through its accreditation Procedure creates trust in the results of certificates, test reports and inspections and supports their global recognition and comparability.

In this context, British Accreditation Registrar makes an important contribution to the quality assurance of products and services, consumer protection and the competitiveness of the various economies.

British Accreditation Registrar is an Non-Profit Institution, and is independent from conformity assessment bodies that it assesses for technical competence. It does not hold competition with other national / international accreditation bodies. Through its existence, it warrants Competence, objectivity and impartiality and ensures confidentiality.

Impartiality

The impartiality of British Accreditation Registrar activities as an accreditation body is ensured through its organisation as well as the composition and operation of its policies. It fulfils the requirements of the applicable EN ISO/IEC 17011 standard and other applicable documents with regard to the structure, the balanced involvement of interested parties, objectivity of the persons involved in the accreditation procedure, freedom from financial, business or other obligations of the persons involved in the accreditation procedure, competence for accreditation.

As an independent accreditation body, British Accreditation Registrar does not discriminate against any of its customers. Its services are generally available to all conformity assessment bodies and are invoiced based on cost in accordance with the applicable fee schedule.

Its organisation ensures that the British Accreditation Registrar staff, assigned assessors and experts along with the committees can maintain their independence with regard to the client’s commercial interests. They are not subject to any pressure or influences that may negatively impact their assessment capabilities.

The impartiality of assigned assessors and experts has been aptly defined in the respective contracts and the guidelines for the appointment and commissioning of assessors and experts. Documentation regarding an assessment is provided in the relevant notes of the assessor/expert. All full-time and external employees are required to promptly notify management of any potential conflicts of interest.

Confidentiality

All full-time and external employees of British Accreditation Registrar as well as all other persons that obtain knowledge of accreditation cases or receive other information as a result of their roles are required to treat all British Accreditation Registrar information in confidence.

These types of obligations are either directly set out in employment contracts, by-laws, procedure descriptions, or may be included in separate confidentiality agreements in special cases. The confidentiality obligation may be removed in special cases with the agreement of the conformity assessment bodies.
